Weapons Destruction Ceremony and Handover of the Laterite Road

Weapons Destruction Ceremony co-organized by the Royal Government of Cambodia and Japan Assistance Team for Small Arms Management in Cambodia (JSAC) will be held in Angkor Chum District, Siem Reap Province on Sunday, March 13, 20051,408 weapons which have been voluntarily surrendered through JSACfs WDP (Weapons Reduction and Development for Peace) Project are to be destroyed
The purpose of the Destruction Ceremony is to make weapons physically unable to be used by incineration and to deliver the message that their society is moving toward peace without weapons.

Moreover, 11km laterite road rebuilt by the financial support of JSAC will be handed over at the same time in this ceremony.JSAC contributes to the life of people in Cambodia by offering such development to the local society after all weapons are surrendered.

There will attend many guests such as residents of the province and officials from provincial government and the Government of Cambodia.Delegates from various national and international organizations are also invited.
JSAC sincerely welcomes all.

Japan Assistance Team for Small Arms Management in Cambodia (JSAC)
JSAC has collected over 10,000 weapons since it started the project in 2003.  JSAC is supporting Peace Building in Cambodia, through collecting illegally possessed weapons and introducing stockpiling system to manage legal weapons.  JSAC will implement the project in Preah Vihea Province and Kompong Thom Province from April 2005 to March 2007.
