On May 24, 2012, at the El-Hassan Science City (EHSC), the handover ceremony of the Project for Introduction of Clean Energy by Solar Electricity Generation System for the Royal Scientific Society (RSS) was held with the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan and His Excellency Ambassador of Japan Mr. Junichi Kosuge.
Coincidentally, the first work of JICS to Jordan was the procurement of electronic engineering equipment for the RSS through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) 23 years ago, in 1989, when JICS was just founded. Since then, JICS has continually worked for the Government of Jordan as a procurement agency with good faith; the total projects amount exceeded more than 30 billion Japanese yen in the past 18 years.
This challenging project is also the part of those projects, under the strong leadership and great support of the Embassy of Japan, our Japanese team has accomplished this Project with proving our famous motto for hard working. The Consultant has driven this Project with experienced engineering knowledge since the preparatory survey. The Contractors have all made our plan come true with their dedicated efforts.

[Comments from staff]
Three years ago, JICS conducted the preparatory survey for this Project. We considered that the EHSC would be one of the most ideal places in Jordan to have a solar energy generating system, since the RSS leads the advanced technology and science not only in Jordan but in the Middle East. Through the implementation of the Project, we have ensured the energetic power of the engineers in the RSS to explore the frontiers of science and technology. We do believe their passion for the science will spread to all over the Kingdom.
JICS also have to emphasize on the perfect coordination by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MOPIC) of this Project. In addition to 280kW system at the EHSC, this Project provided 100kW system to the Dead Sea Panoramic Complex with taking a role in the awareness of the people of Jordan. MOPIC's arrangement has made us look forward to the synergistic effect of the future of this Project.
The global society has been facing the issue of energy resources and environmental protection for many years. This is not only an issue for the economic growth, but also an issue we, as human beings, have to tackle together. Both Jordan and Japan have hardship in terms of energy resources; however, at the ceremony JICS felt the potentiality to overcome this hardship with the mutual cooperation at the place in the sun.
For the ceremony, people gathered to celebrate the handover of the solar energy generating system, but, this is not the end: this is the beginning of our new challenge for saving our globe in the future together. All the people at the ceremony were the witnesses of opening the new door of solar energy for our Jordanian friends. This solar energy generating system is the key to this door.
JICS thanks all the people, including the anonymous workers, who cooperated in this Project. Without any of them, the Project would have never been completed.
All the best wishes for a bright future of the renewable energy in the "Kingdom of the Sun"!
