Program Grant Aid for Environment and Climate Change

Japan's Program Grant Aid for Environment and Climate Change is a new scheme of grant aid established in FY2008 as part of building "Cool Earth Partnership" that the Government of Japan announced in January 2008 for the purpose of assisting developing countries' efforts toward climate change.

This Grant Aid formulates policies and projects against global warming to partnering countries in order to tackle reduction of the greenhouse gas (mitigation measures) and to respond to climate change issues (adaptation measures) and provides funds necessary for realizing specific projects based on these policies and projects.

JICS' Role

JICS as a procurement agent properly manages the provided fund, procures necessary equipment and services, and supervises the overall projects in accordance with contracts with developing countries' government since establishment of the grant aid in FY2008.
