Ambassador of the Republic of Ecuador to Japan Pays a Visit to JICS Toward Further Strengthening Cooperation between Japan and Ecuador

On July 13, 2026, H.E. Mr. César Montaño, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Ecuador to Japan, and First Secretary Ms. Ñusta Maldonado visited JICS.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on development cooperation for Ecuador that has been implemented with the support of the Government of Japan. In particular, they engaged in active discussions on the outcomes and future prospects of cooperation through the provision of equipment and other assistance, including renewable energy-related projects in the Galápagos Islands, medical equipment, patrol vessels, and police vehicles.

Ambassador Montaño expressed his appreciation for the role that JICS has played as a procurement agent in the implementation of these cooperation projects, and also conveyed his expectations for further cooperation in the future.

President Higuchi of JICS expressed his appreciation for the longstanding cordial relationship between the Embassy of Ecuador in Japan and JICS, and conveyed JICS’s intention to continue supporting initiatives that contribute to the development of both countries.

The ongoing FIFA World Cup 2026 was also touched upon during the meeting. The participants shared the hope that the performances of both the Ecuadorian and Japanese national teams would serve as an opportunity to further deepen mutual understanding and a sense of affinity between the peoples of the two countries.

JICS will continue to contribute to the further development of the friendly relations between Japan and Ecuador, and will work to ensure that Japan’s economic cooperation is implemented effectively and steadily.
